Roofing software for the estimate, the deposit, the change order and the photos

A replacement is an estimate, a deposit, a permit, a change order when the decking is rotten, a draw when the tear-off is done and photos for the insurer. TradesBackbone holds all of it on one job — and the crew lead sees the same record the office does.

The Roofing pack is pre-selected when you start from this page.

How a roofing shop runs on TradesBackbone

5 workflows your crews and your office share on one record. Everything below exists today.

Estimates with squares and pitch on the job

The roofing pack adds Roof Squares and Roof Pitch fields to every job and seeds Inspection, Repair, Replacement, Gutters and Materials categories. Build the estimate on the roof, text it, the homeowner taps Approve.

Deposit at approval, draws as the work lands

Set a deposit percentage on the estimate and the customer is taken to pay it the moment they approve. Bill a draw invoice at tear-off and the balance at completion, with retainage if the contract carries it — every invoice with a card or ACH link.

Change orders the customer approves from their phone

Rotten decking, extra ice-and-water, a skylight they decided on. Raise the change order on the job, send it, and the customer approves it from the link before the crew continues. The revised contract value is what the final invoice reads.

Before, during and after photos on the job

Crews upload photos from the roof straight to the job, tagged before or after. When the adjuster or the homeowner asks, the record is on the job, not on someone's phone.

Roof warranty tracked, permit and license on file

Record the manufacturer and workmanship warranty against the job and a reminder is queued to the customer 30 days before it expires. The pack adds a Permit # field per job and your State Contractor License # on the compliance screen. Material Takeoff and Roof Warranty Summary reports read from the same records.

Roofing questions, answered

Straight answers about how TradesBackbone runs a roofing business.

Can I take a deposit when the homeowner approves the roofing estimate?+

Yes. Set a deposit percentage or amount on the estimate, and when the customer taps Approve they are taken straight to pay it by card or ACH. The deposit is applied against the later draw or final invoice.

How do change orders work on a roofing job?+

A change order is raised against the job with its own line items, sent as a link, and approved by the customer there. The job's contract value is revised on approval, and the Change Order history stays on the job.

Does it support progress billing?+

Yes. Invoices can be a deposit, a draw (with percent complete) or a retainage release, alongside ordinary invoices. Each carries a card or ACH payment link.

Where do the roof photos live?+

On the job, uploaded from a phone and tagged before or after. They stay with the customer's record, so an insurance question a year later is answered from the job, not from a camera roll.

Does it track roof warranties?+

Yes. A warranty record holds the item, coverage (parts, labour or both), start and expiry dates and claim status. A service reminder is queued to the customer 30 days before expiry, once. The Roof Warranty Summary report lists them.
